Emerald City

I must say it’s been a while since my last post.

What’s my current obsession?  Well today I saw these beautiful green sequinned heels from KG by Kurt Geiger. They’re £100 (which is somewhere around £200 I believe), so perhaps they’re something to add to the christmas list. But look at them! Don’t they just scream Emerald City from Wizard Of Oz? So this is Emily’s new mini trend…All things green and sparkly that look like they should belong in the Emerald City. If you’re currently out of cash, but want some of this green goodness now, I would suggest browsing through Barry M Costmetics, where you can find green glitter nail polish, liquid eyeliner and dazzle dust.

It’s the christmas party season, which for me is the only time where I can get away with wearing masses of sparkly items of clothing and accessories without looking like I’ve been attacked by the glitter monster, thank goodness.

Quick Little Ditty

Where has my mind gone? Since school has started up again, I’ve been so worried about my two math courses and finishing my summer reading assignment that I have had no time to update. Right now, I have no time to do a formal update, but this mini-blog is better than nothing. I’m just going to list a few of my must-haves for fall.

Argyle Socks: The more and more ways I see these being worn makes me want to go find my box of clothes from when i was tweleve to dig out all my old pairs of socks.

Long, Oversized Trench: In my town we have have unusually rainy falls and early winters, so this coat will be perfect for the unpredictable weather.

Knee-High Boots: To dress up or down any outfit.

Oversized Sweaters: Comfy and cute, need I explain any more?

Giant Rhinestone Rings: I found that I have an obsession with large, gaudy jewelry.

I have much, much, much, much more to blog about, but not enough time. I have a week break from school coming soon, so expect that week to be spent oogling clothes I want online and then blogging about them here. I will probably do a few posts on the items I have listed above. I also plan on going to a few fancy thrift stores, so expect posts about the vintage items I cannot afford with pictures of the items in said stores.

I believe I’ve just died and gone to dress heaven…

If I had the money, I would buy this dress. This magnificent golden seashell-esque, fairytale dress. Isn’t it just beautiful? It’s £3,040 (about $5,052?) by Marchesa. But I can still dream, right? Ok, that’s it, I’m now on a mission to find a look-a-like dress for next year’s leaver’s prom.

Icon Inspired Nails

Long time no blog.

I’ve had a busy month or so, but I’m trying to get back into the habit of doing my bit to make sure this blog gets updated with fresh material.

If you’ve been checking out ASOS recently, you may have noticed these little beauties: ASOS Paint. They’re a collection of cute Ciaté nail colours inspired by ASOS’ favourite celebrity style icons. There’s a colour for everyone, from Alexa Blue to Agyness Purple. My personal favourites are Cheryl Orange, pictured left, and Mary-Kate Black & Gold. Sweet idea, huh? They’re £6.00 each from ASOS.com.

Gingham Favorites

purplegingham2Not a plaid person? Don’t worry, there is a fall pattern out there for you. Gingham! There are many different colors and varieties of gingham in stores this season in forms of flannels, tunics, dresses, skirts and much more. The Love Squared cinch-waist shirt to the left is available exclusively online at PacSun for $30 (use the promo code wel15em08 to get fifteen percent off your entire order). Don’t like the purple-grey combo shown? It’s also available in the classic black and white gingham and a green. Pac Sun has many other styles of flannel shirts and fall dresses, prices ranging from thirty dollars to fifty bucks.

At Forever 21 you can find many cute gingham and flannel dresses for a tad bit cheaper. Stores such as  Hollister and Delia’s also carry loads of flannel and plaid for about fourty to fifty dollars. If those stores can’t satisfy your fall fashion crave then just take a stroll around your local shopping mall and I’m sure you’ll bump into loads of displays and mannequins sporting the lumberjack look.

“Dress”ing for Summer – It’s Not Too Late!

Navy Summer DressWhile summer break is coming to a close and some schools are bringing uniforms back, that doesn’t mean that we can’t prepare for next year, right? Here you’re looking at a Paradise Falls Dress from ModCloth.Com (click on the dress for a better look) – this dress seems like the perfect thing for a day out, or an evening with someone special. Not only that, but I’d like to see a pair of nice shoes that wouldn’t go with this dress. Personally, I’d pick a pair of bright-coloured pumps, but that’s just me.
Price: $54.99

Yellow Summer DressNow, if you’re more into happy, vibrant colours, I might have the perfect thing. On the right is a yellow summer dress that ModCloth calls a “Tierrific Dress”, which just so happens to be a very fitting name for this 9-tier empire waist dress. What I really like about this particular number is that it’s a v-neck halter dress, but it doesn’t seem as fussy as others that I’ve seen. It’s also in a very sunshine-inducing colour, sure to bring a smile to your face, and maybe to those around you.
Price: $54.99

Oh My Glittering Goodness!

serve.aspTwo words: Lamé . Hoodie. This, my dear friends, is what my sequinned treasure trove of a wardrobe seems to be lacking. It’s shiny. It’s loud. It’s available in six different colours, including champagne lustre, gold dots on black, mauve dots on black (pictured left), black dots on black, wet look black and lamé gold. And for you charming young gentlemen it’s also a unisex item.  At £44 or $48 from American Apparel, I’d call this a bloody good investment! For the faint-hearted out there, AA sell the original non-shiny style available in a rainbow of twenty-five individual colours and patterns!! That would come at a slightly cheaper price of £33 or $39.

Blaze Craze.

Blazers are ridiculously in this autumn. UK style icons like Kate Moss and Alexa Chung have already been snapped sporting them of a summer evening. Blazers, or, in simpler terms, the female version of a male suit jacket, are extremely versatile, and can be worn to add edge to an otherwise girly outfit. Think tight fit dresses, even in floral. They can also  be worn casually, team with a pair of skinny jeans and ankle boots.

If you are going out somewhere special, or are feeling adventurous, a sequined or printed blazer can make a fashion statement. Team the sequined black blazer with a white fitted dress, and prepare to dazzle. The rose printed blazer can be rocked with a pair of jeans and heels.

Each of these blazers are available on Topshop.com. My all time favourite store.

I myself own the navy blazer, and the grey one, except in black. I am also intending on purchasing the other two.

Cardigan Crazy

delias dessirree cardiganI am extremely picky when it comes to certain things, one of them being colored pencils brands; but that’s not what this blog is about. My selective taste in sweaters often leaves me cold and with bare arms, seeing as I really only like to wear cardigans. However, when it comes to cardigans, they must be three things for me: cotton, torso-covering, and cheap. Normally, I would immediately turn to Forever 21 to satisfy my cardigan need, but I am not a big fan of their sweater selections as of right now.

Don’t forget Forever 21 fans: There are other stores to shop from. Delia’s may be my favorite right now. For $44.50, you can buy this adorable Desiree argyle cardigan, available in two colors. Not a fan of argyle? The Elena solid cardigan is available in three colors and the Arielle girlfriend cardigan available in a variety of bold colors for $39.50. Check their clearance section for a large selection of styles, colors and cuts of sweaters.

Looking for a short-sleeved cardigan perfect for fall? American Eagle Outfitters has the perfect thing for you. Their vintage cardigan comes in three colors. They also carry a polka dot cardigan and a striped one; for the pattern lovers.

Much love from the girl who is putting her mother in credit card debt, Becca.

Umbrella Print Dress

umbrella print dressIf you know me well, you’ll know that I’ve got a soft spot for adorable kitschy patterns. I’ve been looking at this cute umbrella print dress for a while. It’s £25 (down from £35) from Therapy which can be found at House Of Fraser department stores. I think I’m going to need to get one of these gorgeous things for going back to 6th form in. I can see myself wearing it with black ankle boots and tights or dolly shoes in either a patent pink or shiny gold. Either way, this dress is the perfect thing for school. To check out this dress and see more views of it, click HERE. Sadly for all of you beautiful people in America, House Of Fraser only deliver within the UK and EIRE. umbrella print

As you can see on the right, I’ve included a close-up of the umbrella pattern as it’s very unclear in the full picture to the left…cute, huh? It’s originally hard to tell that the umbrellas are pink and purple with golden detail.

Tomorrow, I am off to London to see a fashion exhibition at the V&A and also go shopping with my girlies. If I see anything interesting on my travels, I’ll be sure to post it here for all you Fashion Wishlist readers to see. As always, I will keep you posted.
